ECO4 Eligibility in East Anglia
ECO4 provides free or heavily subsidised energy efficiency improvements including external wall insulation, loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, and heating upgrades. Eligibility is based on receiving qualifying benefits (Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Child Tax Credits, etc.) or having a household income under £31,000. Properties must be rated EPC D, E, F, or G.
Across East Anglia, several towns have particularly high ECO4 potential. Wisbech has an estimated 65-75% of homes rated D-G with very high fuel poverty. Great Yarmouth is ranked 18th out of 296 most deprived boroughs with 19.4% fuel poverty and 24,100 homes needing improvement to EPC C. Lowestoft has some of the most deprived wards in England. March has 60-70% of homes rated D-G with the lowest affordability ratio in Fenland.
Deadline: 31 December 2026
ECO4 ends on 31 December 2026. From 2027, the Warm Homes Local Grant (up to £15,000) takes over but with different eligibility criteria and potentially longer waiting times as the new scheme ramps up. We strongly recommend eligible households apply now to secure ECO4 funding.
